It's Friday.

I am tired.

I am sore.

I am ready to go home now, kthnx. It is only 10:45 in the morning.

I might be a little cranky because of the above.

And it's Friday.

SO.

I love:

Jake Weber. I don't know why I find him so super shiny, but I do. I love him in everything I've ever seen him in. I wouldn't pick him out as my type. He's kinda plain, sometimes a little gangly. But there's something about that smile and the tone of his voice and the way he hunches down a little to talk to a shorter woman as if he wants to get close that I just adore.

1. The shape of my hips. I am not especially fond of their current girth. Hmm. Maybe that's too harsh. The current width. Yes, but I love the way they curve out from my waist. When my waist is inner tube free, I have a very lovely hour-glass figure.

2. the bowl of flowers pinned to my cube. Sent courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom, it's bright and pretty and came with a Gift! And it makes my little office Hell a little less hellish. THANK YOU!!

3. Peaches. Sweet and soft and oh, so pretty! Peaches are the bestest. Peaches, imo, are possibly the sexiest fruit ever. Even sexier than strawberries.

4. Pictures of Greece. There's something about photographs of Greece that make me want to grab my passport and hop on a plane. The islands and the water and especially those white buildings popping against the blue blue ocean really get my wanderlust a-twirling.

speaking of which ...

4a. My Passport. That I love and adore and cannot believe I let expire in November of LAST YEAR!! It will be renewed shortly even though I have no travel plans in the works. Just the thought of not being able to make a run for it when I want to makes me twitch. What if I need to get out of dodge quickly! What if I meet a gazillionaire and he wants to sweep me off to parts unknown!!

4b. I also love the fact that my passport is full o' stamps. YAY!! I am a world traveler.

1. Celebrity is a funny thing, even on a small scale. Ian Siegal isn't quite a person to me. Not quite. He is brilliant. We've flirted. He's sexy. He's got Presence. We've talked and emailed, but I see photos of him and doesn't seem quite real. Not quite a real person despite the fact that I've hugged him and chatted, kissed his cheek and had mine kissed in return. Despite the alleged stage seduction that Yo!Mello swears happened during that one show in London.

2. Despite being a good twenty pounds heavier, I love my figure more now than I did at eighteen or twenty-three. Yes, it's softer, cushier, and I can no longer tuck myself into a size six, But I adore it.

3. Kitto (so named because he reminds me of the LKH character) is the prettiest, daintest man that I've ever seen. Dainter even than Wolfgang and that's saying mucho. Not staring at Kitto is a struggle because he looks so dollish. So tiny and I'm sure that he MUST shop in the kids department because nothing else could possibly fit that delicate frame. I would love to sit him on my lap and cuddle him and I don't think that's the appropriate reaction to have towards an adult male. If I were him I'd be annoyed.

4. Some days are just those days. Today I walked blocks in heeled loafers and now my pinkie toes are just starting to show signs of blistering. I had a meeting at the end of that walk and before I got there my pressed, pale blue, wrap-around shirt was dirty from time spent in the store room. Then, after lunch I managed to spill my yummy coffee down my shirt front. I'd hide it all with my coat, but I've since reached the fuckitall stage of the day.

5. American Gangster is one of the most interesting documentary's it's ever been my pleasure to watch and if you haven't seen it I highly reccommend it. It's not on DVD yet, but keep your eyes out for repeats on BET. I watched the marathon this weekend and it was fascinating. May I also reccommend the Cocaine addition of Illegal Drugs and How They Got That Way. It seems that my interests of late lean towards the criminal. I really can't imagine why.

I took a stab at the fifty book challege and managed 22. Mostly re-reads because I was culling my book collection. This is a tiny slice of what's on the shelves and doesn't count the four crates still hanging out in my room. The shelves are cramped so this isn't even close to including what's on them either. Oh, well. Hopefully, this year I'll actually make the fifty book mark.

Oh, and no comments about the fact that these are all romances. These books were getting cut because they were from my wildly dreamy youth when ALL I read were romances. It's amazing that considering my reading habits up till eighteen that I can't write a happily ever after to save my fucking life.

Things that give me a happy.

1. PS3!! Tomorrow, yo!! YAY!!! I would, however, be even happier if I could get a shiny one for myself. Alas, I am too poor. :(

2. Angelica Pickles on this morning's episode of Rugrats: "Well, you know what they say: If the truth hurts, wear it." Truer words have never been spoken, Angelica. She's some kid, that Angelica.

3. Obnoxiously pretty people. Not just pretty people, but people so pretty you have to take a second look. And we're not talking about Beyonce or Halle, Taye Diggs or Tom Welling. Nope! I'm talking the people out there on the Mean Streets. Average, every day people who just happen to be OMG WTF, You Are Hot.
3a. Like that one big girl I saw that one time at that one place, and I Really don't remember where I was or what I was doing, but that girl was gorgeous and not in the oh, she'd be pretty if she lost weight kind of way. She was pretty, possibly, because she was overweight -- her complexion looked that much creamier and her lips were so so red.
3b. Or that guy that came in for an interview that one time when I was a receptionist, and I think the had the bluest eyes I've ever seen on a real live person, ever! Plus, he had a mighty knock out smile. The eye twinkling, I can't help but smile right back kinda smile, and maybe kiss him, too.
3c. And then there was that guy that made out with Bacardi Girl all that long time ago at the Hermosa Pier. He had cheekbones like James Marsters and you really could cut yourself on them. Plus! Hot!! YAY!!
3d. My Scandinavian Love God who is still one of the most beautiful people I've ever met in my entire life and I'm still amazed that I managed to snag him, cause whoa!! with the hotness. Plus, super duper ultra sweet. And did I mention hot? Everybody in my building called my J Crew guy. Dude, He was that hot, I kid you not!
3e. Tour Guide Tight Ass - with the tan and the bedroom eyes and the sweetest ass ever seen on a man. The kind of ass you'd love to see naked. Alas, I did not get to see his naked ass. I would have like to though. Really. Oh! And he was Irish and OMG with the accent, plus he had thick, curly brown hair. Hair worthy of some finger running.
3f. The firefighter who came to rescue me mom that one day that I had to call 911 and he was SO HOT and had such an awesome smile that I was completely distracted by the whole 911 rescue. I was all wow, he's hot. OMG, and I was so embarrassed because how INAPPROPRIATE. But, dude, really, you had to see that smile. I know, I am SUCH a LOSER!

4. Smart women!

P.S. I think I may need an intervention. My use of YAY has gotten completely out of control. Help Me! PLEASE!! Suggest a replacement ejaculation, why don't you?

1. I am very tired. I am very irritated. My tolerance for mediocre fic is in the toilet. Rec me something Brilliant to take home for the weekend. Brilliant with a capital B.

2. I am less horrified by the idea of marrying a stranger than I am by the fact that in Kyrgyzstan they KIDNAP you first and then force you to marry a stranger.

3. There are 45 days until Christmas. How the fuck did that happen?

4. Did I mention that I am tired? How about irritated? Cranky, I'm sure that I didn't mention that I am cranky.

Nearing completion --

1. B/A fic for IWRY ficathon is about 85% done. I may be skipping out on Halloween shenanigans in favor of writing. I'll be needing a beta as of Monday if anyone has time.
2. The initial draft of gender and death essay is done.
3. Vex Not the Roses Commentary is at about 75%
4. eyes like the summer Commentary has an outline and a rough draft

In the works (in no particular order):

1. post-NFA Angel fic. [livejournal.com profile] tkp did a preliminary beta and gave me awesome thinky notes and I've actually worked on the narrative progression.
2. post-Serenity (movie) River fic. The plot has gotten really, really complicated and that's not necessarily a good thing. Initially intended as a prequel for Burn the Flag. We'll see.
3. NaNoWriMo!

Possibly to be completed, one day, in the distant future (meaning I look at it frequently, poke it and then put it away):

1. The Seduction of Wendy Darling: A Tragedy in Three Parts (Peter Pan)
2. Assatanata (Darla/Angel/Drusilla in 18th C. Italy)
3. The Golden Lotus (extended from Drabble; slayer fic)
4. A Wave of Moonlight Gloss revision (Dawncubii part 2)
5. Impressions revision (Jesse/Spike)
6. Kansas (part 3 in Ceremonies of Light and Dark trilogy - Secrets Not Long Buried and A Butterfly Dream of Sand and Sky)

Thoughts for the Future:
1. Essay: Cordelia as archetype (mother, maiden, crone)
2. Essay: A Hooker with a Heart of Gold: re-writing the 'pretty woman' for television
3. S6 BtVS Christmas fic
4. Essay: Adulthood and the body in Angel and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer

2. My eyeball is scratched and my glasses still have not arrived. The choices are
minor pain or blindness.
Hmmm …. Can we get a third option?

3. Danse Macabre continues Laurell K. Hamilton decline as a storyteller.
I'm not surprised, but still disappointed. It started off so well.

4. Love songs suck. All of them.

The Tally thus far

I want to write, but I seem to be having difficulties. Maybe it's time to find a new fandom. *sigh*

1 Spike
3 Angel
1 Darla

I've been tagged!!! Look out. So, for [livejournal.com profile] diachrony:

20 Most Random Facts )

There you go. 20 facts in I don't know how many minutes. So, who do I actually tag and will they respond. Big questions. Big Questions.

So, tag! You're it:

[livejournal.com profile] moireach
[livejournal.com profile] katherine_b
[livejournal.com profile] kormantic
[livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves
[livejournal.com profile] dafnap

Okay, we're pretending that this took me four minutes. Woot! I'm flying.

Later, yo!

1.) I extend love to [livejournal.com profile] thawrecka because her boss SUX! and she is mighty cool. *lalalalalalala* I do not hear you bad week, and neither does my girl. It is SUMMER, damnit and the weekend looms. I shall raise a glass to you this Friday. Hermosa Pier, Aloha Sharkeez. Next week will be better, m'dear.

2.) I love your cleverness and wit.
2a.) [livejournal.com profile] pandarus is discussing the insanity of fandom and overinvested fans: "Wank, kerfluffles and the fools who give us ALL a bad name."

3.) [livejournal.com profile] moireach is in Ireland and I am *still* jealous!

4.) [livejournal.com profile] swmbo is king. Nothing new there. Move along.
4a.) She is also doing Maths. I have to say that that is extremely unseemly behavior in a monarch.

5.) [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves is writing a most promising epic post-NFA fic. I read the first part and now I am *waiting with bated breath* for it to be done because I CANNOT read WIP's! *omgtheagony*

6.) The Cat misses Cleatus, like crazy. She slept in his bed last night and napped there, I suspect, all day. I feel *very, very* neglected. Of course, she just spent ten minutes on my lap purring and milk treading into my bare thigh.
6a.) I am now covered in cat hair.

7.) I am reading Fellowship of the Rings (complete with Introduction by J.R.R. Tolkien) and omg I love you J.R.R. Tolkien!

I am still in love with Guy Pearce. That is all. Still.

It's a wacky time on the cold town tonight.

1. Saw my first Christmas commercial today. WTF?! It's not even Halloween yet!

2. New router installed. Yay! Me. We are not, however, wireless. That is sad and maybe a little unfortunate.

3. Bought!!! Woo-Hoo!!! The Firefly boxed set!!!!! I am in love all over again. "Whoa. Good myth." I cannot believe that Fox was so stupid as to cancel this show and then not bright enough to bring it back. It deserves so much better than Fox and I am highly disappointed. The whole situation then reminds me of the Wonderfalls debacle and I am left highly incensed.

4. Ray! on Friday!!!

5. Writing. It might be a good thing.
seraphcelene: (Default)
I am heavy lurking. When I can. The Undercover Smartass bought The 'Rent Sims 2 and that means no computer time for little ole me. Hopefully I'll be getting a router this weekend and can then proceed to be online despite of computer hoggage. I might even be wireless.

Other Things That You Should Know:

1. I might be writing.
2. My last car payment is due on October 19th and then I'm headed for Pink Slip city.
3. I LOVE Desperate Housewives. It is my new crack! I am giddy and hopelessly addicted. "If you think that I am going to discuss the dissolution of my marriage in a place where the restrooms are labelled chicks and dudes, you are highly mistaken."
4. Zinone Pink informed me that if I were a Desperate Housewife I would be Lynette (Felicity Huffman). "Run, boys! Run!"
5. I have also realized that I am not now, have never been, and most likely never will be, a literary writer. I am a cheap, commercial whore, as my reading habits would support. I write strictly for entertainment purposes only (typically my own entertainment). I do not write deep, meaningful shit. That is the real truth and I'm learning to embrace it. Maybe I'll write a novel. It will be horribly bad and I could sell it for a lot of money.
seraphcelene: (shot through by saava)
Ha! I made it. Let there be no doubt that I am, indeed, made of stern stuff. They came and re-carpeted the ENTIRE house. I supervised and engaged in acts of incredibly heavy lifting. I actually think that I might have sprained something in my left bicep.

A word For the uninititaed: sofas are heavy AND unwieldy, as are two hundred dollar entertainment systems.

But everything was safely moved out, more or less, and has been returned all in a day. However, I am desperatly exhaused. I took Wednesday off but had to work today. I went to bed at 1.15am for a 4am alarm clock. I was *very* giddy today at work which translates largely into incredible snarkiness. I slept for two hours after I got home, but I don't think anything will make it better until I am able to get a solid eight hours. We're talkin' uninterrupted here. Got that?

In other news: how pisseed am I that Kevin Hill was pre-empted for baseball. Taye Diggs is teh sexay! and, yes, I missed most of Lost. I also have to work Saturday to make up the hours for yesterday and that sucks mightily.

I also extend SUPREME heartfelt apologies out to Seymour Sigmond. Tuesday was his 30th birthday and I missed it. Shit.

Finally. Lars' movie meme thing )

Some Things

seraphcelene: (Default)
1. I *heart* Hal Sparks.

2. Yes, VH1, I do indeed LOVE the 80's. Why didn't someone warn me about this show. I wasted, like, *all* of New Year's Day watching.

3. Sign-ups for a Cordelia fic-a-thon. I can't remember where I put the link. Someone post it in the comments if you know it. Thanks.

ETA

4. Adding Lilah to the previous post.

Putting together the outline for a paper - Lame, stupid and otherwise totally undescriptive working title is

"As strong and as interesting as men": Re-imagining H. Rider Haggard's Ayesha and the Victorian New Woman for a modern audience in Anne Rice's The Queen of the Damned.

I'll tell you what it's about later. There is a thesis, I promise.

Now for the wacky fun, or maybe not so much:

When, notice I say *when* and not if, they re-make Queen of the Damned I would like to see the parts cast as following (note that some of these are based on acting skills, some on looks and some are kinda arbitrary):

Akasha: Patricia Velasquez
Maharet: Nicole Kidman
Mekare: Nicole Kidman
Khayman: Johnny Depp or Viggo Mortensen
Enkil: Joaquin Phoenix
Mael: Tom Welling
Marius: Vincent Perez (liked him well enough for him to go it again)
Lestat: Orlando Bloom (or *maybe* Colin Farrell)
Louis: Brad Pitt (of course)
Daniel: James Marsden
Armand: Gael Garcia Bernal
Jesse: Fairuza Balk, Julia Stiles or Erika Christensen (I'm pretty ambivalent)
David Talbot: Anthony Hopkins
Baby Jenks: Christina Rici
Pandora: Claudia Black (criminally under used in the first version)
Gabrielle: Michelle Pfiffer

So, who would you cast?
