Loud fangirl squeeling!
Lindsey! Lindsey with tattoos! and a warded apartment?
jennyo has some legitimate concerns about Lindsey and Eve as The Big Bad that I find very interesting. But, Lindsey! So, I'm okay to wait and see. At least for the moment. And is Eve, really, just the poor man's Lilah? Well, apparantly so.
Which is okay because I wasn't feeling this episode. I hope that someone (
thebratqueen,
shrift) can open it up for me. Because right now I'm agreeing with
kita0610, I am so not jiving with the vamp vs. vamp.
Immediate impressions and Other observations:
- Drusilla as the landscape for Spike/Angel competition is a little unoriginal. I LOVE Dru, but, well it's a little too obvious. Besides, we know Spike and he obsesses. We also know Angel and he is self-centered. Angelus Wants It All. Channel Faith, please. Want. Take. Have.
- The AI gang trusting the translation of someone other than Wesley? Have we really forgotten that we're working at The Uber Evil Law Firm? Did we not learn anything fromDr. Phlox Dr.Royce and the super secret werewolf resturant?
- Gunn! Throttling Eve. Could I have cheered any louder? Gunn! "Do not finger the robots." Eeeewwwww.
- Still not feeling the Eve love, sympathy, whatever. But, no worries, she's getting the love from someone.
- Angel/Spike battle. Annoying. Buffy references, expected, but annoying. I am a girl, but WHY, god, Oh WHY, does it always have to be about the girl? Although I really did like Angel calling Spike out on his moralizing about getting a soul. As much as some people resist the idea, he *did* do it to get into Buffy's pants. Spike called Angel on something - maybe that he can't stand that Shanshu may not be about him (Angel). Liked that as well.
- Dumb Eve.
- Dumber Fred.
- I really missed Cordelia in this episode, for some reason. And can we GET a few more girls on the show that are not Harmony, Eve or Fred? Gwen!
- Angel's meditation on why Spike won the fight for the cup was good to hear him admit. Spike *wanted* it more. However, I don't think that that means Shanshu doesn't belong to Angel. Or that he isn't the one, rather it means he's tired or he's normal. I mean, HELLO, who *wants* perpetual torment. If we've learned nothing from Buffy we should have learned that no one *wants* the burden of saving the world. It isn't something you choose. I, personally, don't blame him for being reluctant. Spike, doesn't have the experience of what it means to be a Champion so it makes sense that he's more willing to take on the world. He only sees the light at the end of the tunnel, the reward and not the path you have to take to get there.
- And did I mention NO to the vamp vs. vamp? I also don't like the way Shashu has been commodified.
