It's Joss and it's comic books. Two things that I definitely love. But Shield is too slick and too shiny. It lacks any of the emotional resonance of Buffy or Firefly. Hell! Even Dollhouse had me pretty close to hello, despite all my issues with the premise. I think it's aiming for too broad of an audience and that is leading to uber fail. At least for me.
I've watched the first 2 eps and none of the characters hold my interest so far. Even Dollhouse, which I thought was a hot mess (and not in the sexy sense) had characters that provoked a strong emotionsal response right out of the gate.
