I love being a woman. There are many reasons why that can be difficult and problematic.
Let me point your attention to one of them:
I debated whether or not to share this story.
And then I debated whether or not to put it on Tumblr…but I decided it was important. Because in my own way, I can (unfortunately) point out exactly what is wrong with men when they don’t realize how hard it is to be a woman. How we do not have equal opportunities and freedoms in everyday life. How most men, even good caring men, have no clue what we go through on a daily basis just trying to live our lives.

Date: 2012-09-12 02:45 am (UTC)From:It reminded me of all the reasons that I dislike riding public transportation, one too many late nights on the subway in New York, and all the conversations that I've had with my brothers trying to get them to understand the ways that women are brainwashed, coerced, and blackmailed into "being nice." They're not the most "enlightened" dudes, but they aren't Neanderthals. I wish that guys could spend a week walking round in female skin to really experience all the ways that we are still treated as second class citizens, and all the ways that the abuse is swept aside or normalized. Hearing people say things like "boys will be boys" or "he's just being a guy" makes me want to punch them in the face!
