The China Bride was an okay read. I liked that the heroine was multi-racial and that the book spent time with her in China. I liked that the book explored Chinese culture and attempted to avoid making too many judgements.
On the down side, there isn't a lot happening in The China Bride. It's a very interior story about personal acceptance and growth. Unfortunately, Putney inserts a random last minute vengeance plot in the last 20 pages that have no real connection to anything else in the story.
The China Bride suffers from slow pacing and the 11th hour plot randomness.
