Almost never a dull moment. I think I can remember only one episode that actually failed to engage me. That is awesome!! And to think I had no real faith in the ability of this show to be decent let alone really good! I might be having fandom and fic thoughts on this one. OMG!!!
Claire's evil Daddy totally redeemed himself. I am not an ends justify the means kinda girl regardless of the situation and I still think that Daddy Bennet totally abused his powers and position BUT! I see why he did it. Actually Telling Claire would have been a good idea and his wife, perhaps. Just wiping out people's memories remains a very bad idea and obviously it's got some serious medical repercussions. And all this time I thought he was just hiding her from Sylar and not just from his own BOSS!! I mean I knew he loved her and all but he REALLY loves her. Somehow it’s all the more poignant and tragic and powerful that he didn't want her in the first place and then the "baby's been keeping us up at night" line and then he totally falls in love with this little bitty baby girl to the point where he is betraying EVERYONE! Awww!
Little Hiro playing GameBoy!! Woot!!! I wonder if Hiro's Pops knows what his son is capable of … I would assume not considering that he just left Hiro in the States to continue playing hero on whatever crack mission he probably thinks Hiro is obsessed with.
I think I nearly fell off my chair when Invisible Guru Guy (what's his name?) appeared perched on the edge of that desk. He used to work for the bad guys?! No. Way! Bennet is so morally questionable that it's fabulous!! I mean he shot him not once but THREE times. Dude and how the fuck did he survive the fall? Who was he protecting? Why does Eric Roberts look so awful?!
And is this just me or does this all smack of the Mutant Registration Act? I'm just sayin' the whole catch and release thing. I mean Stan Lee's cameo last week, I'm sure, is not meant to distract you from the X-Men-ishness of this show.
Now I'm all curious as to what Lenderman is actually up to! Who is he? Obviously it's not a coincidence that he has ties to Nathan, Issac, Nikki and DL. Is this a government thing or a privately funded let's take over the world thing. Who could possibly be of such high importance in Claire's personal life that Silence would take orders to hide her? Who Who Who?
What's up with the previews from next week!! Who is Simone?! Who is she Really?!?!? When is Mohinder going to figure out that he's playing buddy-buddy sidekicks with Sylar?!!!
Am I spelling everyone's name right?!?!?!?
Yeah. I don't have the Heroes love the way that I had the Buffy love or Angel or Firefly, but this …. this could be the start of something really beautiful.

I know! You could see him falling in love with her the second he took her in his arms, and he didn't even want her! Oh, that just presses *all* my buttons. Oh, and the scene with her choosing his glasses? That's just the bestest ever. Esp since his glasses are so defining and yet so ugly. OMG I LOVE Claire and Daddy bonding!

GAH!!! I know!
This is all *extremely* X-man-y. But of course the premise is very X-men. And though I love X-men dearly, it is in some ways a little comic booky for me--I prefer the political situations in X-men, as opposed to the Oh!no!Magneto! or ahhh!Phoenix! or look!it's!Juggernaut! kind of ev0l. I think Heroes looks as though it will deal more with the politics and logistics of it all, to which I say omg yes. I saw that Stan Lee was guesting last week and yet I failed to recognize him on the ep, which was weird.
Ack! It is very cool to watch a show as it airs that is this involving/riveting.

Date: 2007-02-27 08:51 pm (UTC)From:My baby brother thinks that Mr. Bennett is actually very much like Magneto. At least early Magneto, out to save mutants from themselves. I know what's best and by any means necessary.Of course, he's way more malevolent. Of course there is also Sylar who is CRAZY evil. All that destiny talk last week had my skin crawling and when he told Super Hearing Woman that the extra little something in his heartbeat was murder I just about fell over. EEEEEEE!!
And my big worry was that it was going to be too comic book and it so isn't even though Peter was FLYING last week OMG! It's contained just enough that it doesn't look ridiculous on the small screen but you still get to See people use their powers.
I am so glad that I have this show because BSG and SG1 totally failed to engage me and I always need Sci-Fi/Fantasy in my life. Also I was freaked out by Dexter and Dresden Files leaves me cold, 4400 is NEVER ON and Lost is comepletly stupid!! So YAY for Heroes!YAY!!!

Date: 2007-03-01 06:21 pm (UTC)From:Yeah, and in retrospect, they did a *phenomenal* job setting it all up. I just felt it was badly done, at first, that there were so many characters, but now that we pretty much know them all, it's always so exciting to see who pops up where.
The Bennett/Magneto parallel is interesting, but I'm not sure I agree. I'm not sure Bennett feels like he knows what's best. He's very conflicted, and Magneto (while indeed fascinating! He's one of my favorite Xmen characters) is....not.

Exactly! I did think radioactive man's hands look pretty dumb, but most times when someone uses their powers I'm just awed at how *cool* it looks, without even really approaching the edge of campy. For instance, the fam think Isaac's white eyes are lame, but I think it's so cool! It makes me giddy.
I'm sorry to hear that BSG didn't engage you. I love that show. Correction, loved--I have no idea what's up with it now. I've never tried Dexter or Dresden Files. But yeah, I need sci fi/fantasy in my life too. With so much day-to-day mundane drama, I need to have a place in my head where people are doing something much bigger and more fantastic.

Oh, me too!! I love the eyes. Love Love. And Peter with the eyes!!

That's so fantastically true. Everything I write from original to fannish is ALWAYS WAY out in the world of sci-fi/fantasy. There's always an element of the supernatural/unreal. I can't not think in those terms, that there's something more out there in the average.

DVD, for sure.

Eric Roberts has always looked awful! I thought that was part of his appeal.

ROTFLMAO!!! That is so terribly, terribly true. It must gall him no end that his baby sister is such a star and he just looks really bad and generally gives a sub-par performance.
ah, c'est la vie.
