Seriously, Drama? Sixteen episodes of love and devotion, angst and tears, and this is the finale that you give me? Seriously? I may very, very, very well never watch another melodrama again.
Seriously?
So, after the hottest kiss this side of ever, and that would be episode 9's closing kiss of epic greatness, there was much hijinks, betrayal, angst, tears, snot, and falling down by Shin Min Ah. I mean constantly, on the ground. In a way, I was long past expecting Cha Eun Seok to attempt suicide at least once. Lo, did I never believe that she would actually succeed AND take Kang Bok Gu with her. After EVERYTHING they went through. After ALL of it. They died? On a mountain top, frozen to death, all Romeo and Juliet-like. Well, I never thought Romeo and Juliet was romantic. And I am still uncertain as to WHY they couldn't get together and make it work. I think there's some cultural reference that I am TOTALLY missing. This is really annoying and frustrating. 16 fucking episodes and they die in the end of it all. Whatever, Drama. Whatever.
What I did like about it was Rain. Although he didn't have much in the way of chemistry with the actress playing Cha Eun Seok (Shin Min Ah), he does have a lot of chemistry on his own. There's just something very genuine and very physical about Rain as an actor. I don't know what it is ... charisma? Hot sexiness? A combination of the two? Yeah, I think that might just be right. I'll be moving on to Full House for the sake of Rain. Full House the ROM COM, thankyouverymuch. No more melodramas for me. Lord, really?! Seriously.
Shin Min Ah was okay in this part. Her part in My Girlfriend is a Gumiho is the part that she was always waiting for. She is awesome there. But as a generic, tortured, kdrama heroine? Not so much. She fell alot. And looked sad and tragic. And ate a lot and drank alot and killed herself in the end along with her boyfriend. Wow. Although, she did get better from the first episode, she was too forced in the beginning, but that kinda dovetailed into general apathy and beat down. She was a little pathetic. Not quite as pathetic as Da Jeong, but pathetic. But even Da Jeong managed to get her act together in the end. Da Jeon who I was very much convinced would end the drama having jumped off a bridge or walked in front of a bus. How on EARTH did she manage to survive.
Moving on, Drama. I am moving on. I was going to burn you to DVD, if for no other reason than the aforementioned kiss from episode 9. I am going to have to rethink that, however. That ending may not be worth burning. You slay me. And not always in a good way.
