seraphcelene: (it mocks me)
It's November! Among other exciting things like NaNoWriMo and Thanksgiving, it is also the month of the IWRY Marathon. YAY! Our beloved [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves is having a much deserved chill and this year it's being run by [livejournal.com profile] darkstar and [livejournal.com profile] librarian2003.

Way back last year, I think, [livejournal.com profile] lynnenne annexed a prompt to me and I didn't really do it justice. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] lynnenne, I really did try. If you ever want to take the prompt back and write something with it, or offer it up to someone else who needs a prompt, I completely understand. Even I read it and cringe a little.

Anyway ... here you all go. Post-Heaven Buffy and Angel before Connor. Permalink at IWRY here.

A/N: Written for the 2010 IWRY Marathon from a prompt by [personal profile] lynnenne. Unfortunately, I didn't quite live up to the prompt even though [livejournal.com profile] tkp really worked hard to get me there. Talking of angels, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tkp for the beta.
Disclaimer: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and all related characters belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, UPN, the Warner Company, et al. I'm just taking them out for a little exercise.

This isn't some fairy tale. )

for Chris, with trepidation, because she wondered.

"And the encounter took place, at last,
between two dreamers, neither of whom
could wake the other except for the bitterest
and briefest of seconds."

This is the fic that ate my brain and killed me. The result is less than what I wanted, but way more than it was the day that I missed my IWRY deadline. Sorry again, Chris.

It was also a learning process. What I learned?

1. The creative process is a bitch. (like I didn't already know that, but I like to be reminded from time to time)
2. Google Maps is beautiful thing.
3. So is Google Docs.
4. SeeqPod is made of Awesome!!

Okay, so. Here we go. For better or worse.

Title: Ever After: Five Fairy Tale Endings
Author: seraphcelene
Email: seraphcelene at yahoo dot com
A/N: Written for the IWRY ficathon. Special thanks must be extended to Kita for the line in Losing My Religon that made my thoughts for The Mermaid's Tale suddenly make sense, and a2zmom's vision of Liam as painter that gave my Liam a reason to be in the room with Buffy. Atmosphere courtesy of Fiona Apple's Never is a Promise, Colin James Hay's I Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You, Rachel's Anytime Soon, Disturbed's Darkness and, for [livejournal.com profile] tkp, Nine Inch Nail's Something I Can Never Have. Summary from Jane Yolen's Knives. These are inspired by and loosely based around five fairy tales; they are listed at the end. Last but never least Mucho gracias, merci and Thank You to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] glossing for beta and encouragement.
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Love can be as sharp as the point of a knife, as piercing as a sliver of glass. Five fairy tales, Buffy and Angel.
