Wedding Shenanigans

Because you guys are awesome and creative and crafty and shifty and sly .... wait, that totally went in the wrong direction.

Anywho!

My BFF's sister, who is kinda like my sister, is getting married. We're scratching our heads for what to do about wedding favors. Something nice, but inexpensive. I'm looking into some DIY kinda things. The Bride is VERY frugal and we don't want to freak her out with a high cost. She's also in Germany, although the wedding will be here, so her involvement is all kinda second hand. Now, because you guys are all awesome, creative, crafty, SMART and a host of other adjectives, have you got any suggestions for me?

Oh wait, I just remembered something even better.

At my one of my friends weddings, she put together a booklet with really short bios of all of the guests they invited to the reception. Short, as in two to three sentences at most. Little nice/humorous anecdotes that mentioned how they knew the happy couple, and something the guests could all use as conversation starters with people they didn't already know. It turned into a fun game.

She said it was a tradition, maybe Swedish or Dutch. But that was pretty cool. It might take some work to put it all together, but it could be inexpensive but memorable and fun.

Oh, I REALLY like this idea. Forwarded it to the coordinator (bride's sister). That would be an amazing gift. Makes so much more personal. Me like!

Yeah - it was really cool, especially because I came in only knowing maybe 15% of the people there. It's a great way to get people to mingle with everybody instead of only the people they know (outside of the horny singles chasing each other) I can't remember where I put my book now, but it definitely made the party more fun.

I love watching WE TV esp the bridal stuff. (Shut up).

However, some of the stuff I have seen is cute. You can get some shot glasses and some paint (they make glass paint) and put the date on them or a heart or whatever. Get some of those mints you see at weddings, and put the mints in a little baggy close it with a ribbon, put it in the shot glass.

I love that idea. Let me know if you want more I have seen tons.

When my mom got remarried, she bought me jewelry which went with dress, but was something I can actually wear again (unlike the dress). I bought it from this Etsy dealer (http://www.etsy.com/shop/SDJewelry), which she has some smoking deals & makes lovely jewelry. (Of course, the frugal part depends on how many attendants there are.)

...And now I see you were looking for favors, not wedding party gifts...

lol!! Thanks for the rec. Unlike you, the one wedding I was in, I ended up with jewelry AND a dress that I haven't worn since. The dress was 400 and the jewelry was 50! Oy vey!
