My desk does not face the window. Too distracting. It faces the kitchen, which is equally distracting considering that Pigskin Porkchop and I will talk across the bar, and our conversations are always epic.

Anyway, my desk does not face the window, so when I turned around after writing 5000 words I was stunned to find sun light. Clock declare it 7AM! I haven't done this since London and that was when the sun came up at four.

So, feeling good. 5000 words and on edit, they're not bad. It'll be a good first draft. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mallyns and [livejournal.com profile] cheebs for the good wishes. You guys ROCK!

Oooh, fabulous ideas; a lot like how bisexuality is rejected by both the gay and straight communities because it introduces a third option which doesn't mesh with people's binary worldviews. Like Derrida's binary structured systems. Germaine Greer also has an essay about how transexuality creates a third gender which gets defaulted into female (the culturally/socially weaker sex) because society can't deal with the concept. Um, not to make this all about sex. ;) But it seems like the mulatta is very much the same thing, in a way, something which contains elements of both base identities but is separate and distinct. Are you applying any of Henry Louis Gates' stuff about signifying and doublemeanings and stuff?

And I would kill to read that as a Buffy essay!
