OK. I'm in.

If for no other reason than the awesomeness of Ming Na Wen as Melinda May. She's stoic and totally bad ass. I love that she's an older character, she's seen more than her fair share of the heinous, and she is totally over the bullshit. Love.

Plus, cute scientists with Scottish accents. I love Scottish accents. They are not quite as annoyingly obnoxious as, say, The Dollhouse's Topher Brink, there is good and bad in that.

Show's got loads of potential. Of course it does. Coulson was perfectly perfect, but I really loved how he got all deep and real with the Wonder Twins. I'm terribly curious to know what's the what between him and the awesome Melinda May.

Skye reminds me a little of Faith for some reason. Like if you infused Faith with early Buffy, voila! I don't know. She's obviously our "in" as we discover the universe. I like that she's not kick ass girl (we've had plenty of those from Joss), but right now she's just terribly smart and tech girl. But also not tech girl sidekick like Willow or, maybe, Whiskey.

Agent Grant is suitably boring at the moment. Nothing to say about that one. He's bland, but I expect he won't stay that way.

LOVE the way the Wonder Twins devolve into geek-speak. Their scenes, and how much they obviously love science, were the tiniest bit reminiscent of Bruce and Tony in the lab without the awesome. I trust that we'll get there. But of course, Tony Stark being Tony Stark makes everything awesome.

I can't help make comparisons. There's so much going on. But, like I said in the beginning, I'm in. The overall storyline was a good one. J. August Richard as a disillusioned man struggling to find relevance and reclaim his life, deciding to reinvent himself as a hero. The meta was Heavy, but I don't suppose I expected it to be otherwise. Here is Michael Peterson's origin story. Right here, this moment, for this every man. And how sad is it that this re-invented Everyman is an injured, unemployed factory worker. Very apropos for the times that we find ourselves in. The struggle between managing the hubris that comes with power and his rage at the same time. He was a man with good intentions. He really was a good man and the world turned him inside out, so that even with all that power, he couldn't find his way. I loved how destroyed he played the part.

And that apparent "kill shot" at the end almost made my heart stop, OMG!

What did you think?

I could not understand most of what those scottish accents were saying. But they were cute in a bubbly way.

I'm not in love with it, but that rarely happens in any event.

Oh, I definitely love the accent. I just don't know what the accent is saying!
