OMG! Seriously! Enough with the Twilight already. Eric Northman would eat the heart of every last Cullen, and Sookie could take Bella in five. Plus, I totally live down the street from the vampire bar. Fangtasia for the win! Beat that Forks!
"cheesetastic crackiness" is very apt. I've found the books and the TV show to be ridiculously addictive. It's like popcorn and M&M's all wrapped up in a ball of You Can't Just Have One. I love them. Mainlined all ten books in about three weeks. I watched the first season on DVD in about a week. One day my baby brother and I inhaled five hours worth in one sitting. The beginning of the show is kinda slow. All vampire sex, and it really wasn't as interesting as you might think. But at the fourth or fifth episode, it really took off and we were hooked.
I'd definitely suggest giving it a whirl. Loads of fun. The books and the show are similar but very different. It's interesting watching after having read the books. There are some major plot changes. Some of the things I'm disappointed they changed, but largely, I just want to see how they run with it. I understand a lot of the adaptations because of the shift in media. It only makes sense. I was planning to start reviewing S3 eps probably this weekend. We're only through the first two episodes, so I'm not too far behind.
