I think Nolan's sensibilities are incredibly wrong for Superman. Unlike The Bat, he's Clark Kent first, Superman second. He just isn't a tortured soul.
I agree about throwing Chris Nolan into the mix. But what gives me a headache even more is the "re-booting" that keeps happening. Granted, it can work and be very exciting (see my love for the new Star Trek), but it seems odd to me that they're "re-booting" Superman only three years after last movie. Same thing for the Spider Man "re-boot" and the X-Men "re-boot". It just seems to quick and too premature. We've just visited this places and already we're reinventing the wheel on them alarmingly quick.
