As much as it's an overarching theme for the show in general, facades was a major point of this episode. Everything was surface and the tension underneath. How perfect everything appeared, but the reality beneath is anything but.
* Jane is like Joan lite. She's trying so hard to play in the big leagues but doesn't really know how to work it. A cheaper version of Joan, Jane's lies could lead her to all the wrong places, if she's isn't careful. The whole thing with Roger was silly because she's trying to maneuver him, but he's playing her completely. Joan is also NOT a woman you want as an enemy. I'm counting the days until Jane really is out on her ass.
* Ken and Sal. Wow! Talk about sub-text. Salvatore's homosexuality has been a barely there undercurrent until today when it suddenly becomes a very big deal. I don't know if Kitty is really as clueless as she seems or if she's just hiding it all really well or in denial. I can't imagine that this "crush" Sal seems to have on Ken will end well. It can't possibly.
* The ending was perfectly elegant and crude. The tension in the car between Betty and Don was so sharp and fragile, it was like waiting for glass to break.
ION, True Blood isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's actually kinda charming, although I do find myself a little annoyed by the stereotypical angry black woman. Tara's intelligent and obviously fierce but that defensiveness is like woah! I think the chemistry between Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer is what's got me interested. Those two were burning up the screen. Too bad I don't have HBO, I'd give it a whirl, but well, my free preview is up after this weekend.
