As I continue to indulge my fascination with Twilight the movie -- yes, the same fascination that led me down the primrose path to reading the book -- I spent a portion of last night watching interview footage on You Tube. Why would I do such a thing, you ask? Well, I had read somewhere that Rob Pattinson (aka Cedric Diggory and soon to be Edward Cullen) was rather disdainful of the novel and the character he's playing.

Well, turns out all is true. It also turns out that Rob Pattinson is a complete and kinda adorable dorkus. Like, totally. Most of his interviews are totally incomprehensible. Generally, he stammers and then breaks down into giggles. WTF?! To be fair, I don't know how much of that is the pressure of Twilight and how much of that is him because there were one or two interview where he was pretty together and kinda intelligent. But as the buzz and attention around Twilight increased, so did his discomfort. He's admitted that the whole phenom is rather terrifying, poor lamb. He is, I think, totally out of his depth. Yeah, absolute spaz! And clueless.

Another point of interest is how little the cast really do think of the books. Those who have read it struggle, and I mean STRUGGLE, to answer questions about the books versus the movies and the characters they are playing. Rob, Kristen Stewart (Bella) and Peter Facinelli (Carlile) seem to have it the worse. Kristen Stewart isn't usually so thrown in interviews, but the simplest questions render her almost speechless. And they repeat the same bits over and over and over in every interview. THEY don't even find anything really all that interesting or compelling about the characters they're playing.

I wonder who's signed up for the sequels and who hasn't and what that could possibly mean to the franchise.

Man. I need to check them out. This movie is going to be the lolfest of the year.

Those little obsessions are pretty funny. Man, the things I've watched to get a Jeremy Irons or Alan Cumming fix. (Right now it's Orson Welles, which is a little bit different as he's a director too, etc)

I do not at all regret going to Forks with [livejournal.com profile] tkp.

I still plan to work through Sands' ouvre in a systematic fashion.

Forks was not about respecting the book, but about LOLing at stupidity. You see, we actually hate the books, but cannot stop reading them and staring at each other in horrified wonder that it exists and (more importantly) is popular. We actually had to pass through Forks to make a tour around the Olympic Peninsula, and it was just the icing on the cake.

Though we did get kind of into it.

We are certainly going to the movie with glitter on, oh yes.

There will be! I have been documenting our Twilight shenanigans on my journal.
