OMG! I have no coherant thoughts! Pete broke my heart. Broke it. In, like, pieces. I don't even LIKE Pete. But ... but ...
And Joan.
The awkward, stilted politness between Momma!Pete and the two Mrs. Pete's was fabulous. The entire scene was just stilted and shut down, but at the same time coy with all of the emotion running rampant just beneath the surface. VK was brilliant throughout the episode. The lost, neediness ... when he goes to Don looking for guidance, help, because he doesn't know what to do and that is SO genuine. Don's barking at him the second time made me very sad although I can understand it. Don and Pete are Not friends, but Pete was like a hurt puppy and GAWDS!!!!!! I felt for him. I totally felt for him.
Joan was totally bitchy racist and it was incredibly awful, true and, I hate to say it like this, awesome. Because, like Cordelia, she calls a spade a spade. But unlike Cordelia, I think she's way more vindictive about it. And I'm not talking about the way she treated Sheila which I loathed but the conversation with Paul in the office. Paul who's trying so hard to be someone he's not. Trying to be That Guy who is fabulous and learned and hip. But really isn't.
And then Joan's face when she pulls that photocopy off the wall. Gold. She was so angry and kinda hurt and embarrassed.
Peggy!! Jeez! I am betting without a shadow of a doubt that that kid is hers. Baby!Pete. Dude. Excellent, excellent episode.
