seraphcelene: (books)
My friend Yo!Mello recommended that I skip this book. I kinda wish that I had followed her advice. The characters were mostly uninteresting and unlikeable. The book was more of an exercise intended to demonstrate how familiar the author is with Jane Austen then anything else. The only thing that I really think worked better than in the film was Allegra's ending. The movie very sadly neglected to follow through on the staple of all Austen books and end with all the couples. Allegra was alone at the film's close. I liked that the book wrapped up her narrative along with everyone else's. Otherwise, I found The Jane Austen Book Club rather lackluster.
