Great, fabulous, wonderful news! Kids, Kids!!! Pigskin, my little brother, got into the post-bac program at Howard University!! How awesome is that?!
I am so, so proud. He's worked hard, ya'll. You don't even know. I mean, he aced O-Chem of all things. I am severely impressed. He's ultimately trying to get into Dental School, he didn't make it this year, mostly, I think, because of many late elements on his app -- and this is an excellent step in that direction.

I'm not sure about the fickle thing. I am easily bored and that sometimes translates to easily distracted. But fickle? I don't think I'm fickle.

National Poetry Month:
Ozymandias
Percy Bysshe Shelley
I MET a Traveler from an antique land,
Who said, "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is OZYMANDIAS, King of Kings."
Look on my works ye Mighty, and despair!
No thing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that Colossal Wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Date: 2007-04-27 08:49 pm (UTC)From:I had trouble with that daemon thing. It said I was both assertive AND passive. Aren't they mutually exclusive? Maybe it was cluing in on my inner conflicts.
I love that poem. It was an ep of BatB.
I want to start a Fandom University, L. I've decided this. Or possibly a writing website. But I want there to be SEMINARS, and discussion circles, and I want it to be engaging and thinky and getting more people talking about writing, like that post you linked (that I was very much interested in) said the other day. It will be GREAT. Will you be a co-founder? Will you at last come to Argentina with me? I long for red dresses and roses in our hair! Hee.

I will *SO* co-found a Fandom Uni/writing website with you. That will be so much fun. I have plenty of webspace to host it, yay hooray!! We could have writers discuss their works, and people could ask questions about style and technique. There could be discussions on genre and mood, the techniques of writing them ... oh, YAY! It will be Fabulous.
Look out Argentina, here we come!

Date: 2007-04-27 10:57 pm (UTC)From:I think the reason I'm falling off this go round is the job losing has thrown me off kilter. I feel kind of out of sorts, partially because I was doing lots of lj'ing at work (my job was to sit there), but now that I'm not working I feel like I should be More Productive.
But I have lots of comments and an email to send and I'm glad you're not terminally ill or anything, hon.

Things are going to look up and this is definitly an opportunity and everything that people say at times like these that sound trite, but are WAY too true for their own good. Productivity is a good thing. Keep on keeping on. LJ will be here and I'll give you a poke every couple of days.

Date: 2007-04-28 05:42 pm (UTC)From:'Ozymandias' is one of my favorite poems. And I also remember the BatB episode ... ::sigh:: ... it was so great having a TV show where they read beautiful poetry on a regular basis. ::feels sentimental::
