Ho, yay! TV! Spoilers behind the cut tags!

Drive 1.4

Well, I'm still interested, although I have a suspicious feeling that it has more to do with the fact that I get to see Nathan Fillion on my TV every week than it has to do with the speed packed, mystery organization, ensemble action-drama that's unfolding on the screen.

You can't have everything.

There are obviously, at this point, more interesting characters and less interesting characters. I like the mini-van Mom; she's so out of place that I'm totally intrigued. The whole "I have to save my baby" thing is trite and clichéd, but again, you can't have everything. Her partner is dull as dishwater, even though she's supposed to be all badass, pull-a-gun-on-the-driver! Finding out that she can't actually drive herself, well, not so much for the interesting, cause really, who cares?

Other than that the only thing I've got to say about this episode is wtf! Why does the black woman got to be all "I see'd the Lawd and he done tole me 'you gon win dis here race.'" The "come to Jesus" stereotype is as annoying as the "Black Bitch".

I can't say that I was surprised that they killed off the darker skinned, older, less attractive black woman, leaving us with a young, attractive mulatta to act as our token black character. And she's going to Appomattox, ya'll. How appropriate is that?!

I did love the giant, fuck-all truck that knocked them off the road. That was pretty awesome. The tinted windows obscuring the driver and out of nowhere-ness of it was so very Christine! Loved it.

Next week we get to learn more about Alex's Dangerous Past. Apparently, it involves boxing. YAY!! You know how I like my Nathan, covered in bruises.

Heroes 1.19

Unlike Drive, I continue to be in love with this show for reasons other than the shininess of Nathan Fillion. In fact, I am in love with the show's overall shininess. It's morally ambiguous characters, the clichés, Hiro's awesome superhero glee, Claire's angst, and Peter's Pollyanna attitude. I just love it.

Nathan's convergence to the Dark Side of the Force is awesome to watch. Seeing him work around any sliver of humanitarian/do-gooder tendencies in favor of ambition is scary and sad. In a sense, Claire has lost two fathers and I think that makes it worse. She wants that relationship so much, someone to trust and there's just no one. She's been betrayed by her adopted father and her birth father, her grandmother wants to shuttle her off; she's been abandoned by her birth mom, forgotten by her closest friend. She's so completely untethered and disconnected! Peter seems to be the only potential anchor. I only hope that she doesn't sacrifice the world on the alter of family ties and that need to belong. Although, five years in the future doesn't look all that promising, does it?

I loved that Lenderman turned out to be a Hero as well, although Yahoo!News managed to spoil that for me (Thanks, yahoo. punk.). The frustrated altruism angle is a good one, I think. It's been done, but Malcolm McDowell does it well. Lenderman is so jolly and creepy and you *know* that he's capable of all kinds of bad things; the very least of which is probably kidnapping. Hi! Micah. Bye! Micah.

I'm also still in love with Jessica's bad ass self and her devotion to her kid. I begin to wonder if Nikki/Jessica are starting to merge, I don't recall seeing the tattoo on her shoulder when she walked out of the meeting with Lenderman. And let me just say: "Shapeshifter girl, you better run. Jessica will kick your Azz!" I really dislike that girl. When Claire came running into Bennet's cell, it was obviously shapeshifter girl cause, dude, hello! What is she doing run from The Man in a cheerleader uniform. Conspicuous much? I *really* don't like her, and I would really like to see Jessica beat the snot out of her.

On that note. I am a little bummed by the bad guy who can't be beat. I've always found that annoying and it isn't any less annoying being that it's Silar. I mean, I know in the end it will make for great drama when he's finally pummeled (killed), but until then ... dude, annoying. He just runs around killing people and NO ONE CAN STOP HIM. Oh, Issac! Facing death head on and with quips!

Hello! Mohindar! Why didn't you cut his g-damn throat while he was passed out! Hello!!

I'm also a little confused about exactly how Mohindar managed to get a taxi to let him carry a dead guy to his family's digs somewhere in midtown NYC. I mean, New York taxi cabs are shady, but c'mon. Peter was very obviously dead, what with the blood and staring, grey eyes.

This episode was in many ways setting us up for the season finale, but I'm fine with that. There was blood and drama, sweet heart-warming Peter, Claire vibes and I love Grandma. I want to know what *her* power is!!

Looking forward to the next ep because ... five years into the future ... YAY!!

Today's poem is by Stellabelle, a mighty fine writer and an all around amazing person. I wanted to put up a different poem, but I couldn't find my copy of the London doc. that it was printed in. It's buried somewhere under my tax returns, I think.

To Cigarettes
Nicole Hefner

Truth, I said, truth,
even though I loved lying.
No, P. said, screw you,
you’ve got to dare.
Whatever
, I said,
and you were in my mouth,
out behind the Steak & Ale,
under the red eaves,
over the hot cement, oily puddles.
You were in my mouth,
and P. said,
It gets better,
and maybe I thought
she was talking about life
or algebra or figuring
out tampons or kissing
with our eyes closed.
It gets better,
she said, and I didn’t
know she meant you—
how you would become
my morning, my
afternoon, my just one more,
my with a coffee,
with a beer, my
after heartbreak, after cheesecake.
You took me over, baby.
Came a long way, baby.
Took my breath away, baby,
and when I wanted to leave you—
because I never stay—
I had to burn the house down
to lose the smell of you.
Now I stand,
under the Marlboro moon,
cock-eyed, angry and naked,
waiting for a minute
when I don’t want you.

I've decided that Mohinder dragged dead Peter on the subway. Who'd even blink? (How I love my city.)

I think Mohinder didn't kill Silar because he was barely alive at that point himself and not thinking that straight.

Finally, Issac figured out to kill Silar and included a painting of it with the messengar.

Um, doesn't Mohinder drive a cab? His father's or something... Isn't that how he met Bennett *way* back at the beginning?

But dude, seriously, you couldn't take a minute to stake/stab Silar on your way out the door? You know what he's capable of...

I love your squee over Heroes! I love this show too! So yummy and exciting!

Can not STAND horrid shapeshifter girl. I do hope Niki/Jessica takes her down.

I would so love to smack Sylar's nasty smug face. My hands itch just thinking about it. Also, I adored the cute little redheaded waitress and thought the lady mechanic was awesome, and he killed them, so I really want him hurtin'. BAD.

Also, that's a terrific poem.

I wish someone would fucking kill Sylar already. Yeah, the bad guy that can't die is tired and I wish they weren't trying to peddle that shit.

But I love so much else about this show I can almost forgive them.
