I have just realized that the trend of smooshing together celebrity couple names was totally swiped from fandom! OMG! Why didn't anyone tell me? I thought it was stupid, I still think it's stupid, but it makes sense now! Long before there was Bennifer or Brangelina and WAY before TomKat, there was Spuffy!

And that leads me to a question. Are all the BtVs couple titles linked to Spike? I admit I'm having trouble remembering others that just don't sound totally ridiculous.

I got Spawn, Spillow, Spander, Spangel. But do we call Buffy and Angel - Bangel? Is there a Biley or Ruffy? How about Billow or Wuffy? Baith or is it Fuffy? I am confused!

I am woefully uninformed!!!!

Who did this first? Who actually thought it would be cute to mesh peoples names?! And why isn't Spuffy, Bike? That would have been SO much more fun. You could tell all of your non-fandom friends that you ship Bike and they would be even MORE confused then they already are because what the hell is a Spuffy anyway?!

Yes, I am knackered and obviously I don't need any more coffee.

Well, I see "Bangel" used all the time, but just in casual conversation. It sounds too silly for people to use "officially" for their ship, I think, or to label their fics with it.

I like "Ruffy" - good one. But I don't know what Buffy/Riley shippers would use.

Baith/Fuffy I see interchangeably. But people also use those terms to refer to the characters when Faith was in Buffy's body and vice versa. Don't ask me which term used for which character, because there are no rules. o.O

The thing is, "Sp" just works so well in front of just about anything. It's just a coincidence really. I doubt the name-smooshing thing is very popular among other fandoms or 'ships.

Heh heh heh ... Spike/Fred, that was Spred. It did give some folks pause. Spillyria has much more dignity, I'm sure you agree. ;)
