Dude!! For as long as I live I will NEVER understand the fascination that white people have with tanning and burning. It's not fun. It's bad for your skin and dude, it hurts!!!
Sin got a real crispy fried burn this weekend and it's not her first severe burn. When I mentioned that she might want to have her skin checked for damage next time she was at the doctor's she totally blew me off and said I was overreacting. WTF?! We hear every day about how the Ozone is depleting and even I got an accidental sun burn last summer for the first time in my entire life. I was only out for three hours and the burn was bad enough that it PEELED!!! It actually peeled, I was red for days and I couldn't stand to have anything on my arms. I wear sunscreen religiously now, and I am NOT what you would call light-skinned. Dude!
In other news, I went to see X-Men III last Friday ....
and OMGWTF?!?!?!? What a way to end a franchise! I actually really enjoyed it but I was totally blown the fuck away. I mean they had the balls to kill off three of the original X-Men. I don't fucking believe it.
I should be mortified. As a fan of the movies, I am blown away.
The only truly stupid parts were:
A. Magneto and the bridge. Are you kidding me? Perfectly dramatic and perfectly ridiculous.
B. "Dont' you know who I am? I'm The Juggernaut, bitch!" OMGROTFLMFAO! Are you kidding me?! Ahahahahahahahaha! That was so stupid I groaned.
Other than that. I really enjoyed it Definitly the best of the three. Iceman finally going full ice was awesome, as is his burgeoning affection for Kitty Pryde. Terribly bittersweet considering what Marie proceeded to do, however, I can take that she did it if for no other reason than that scene with Wolverine right before she left. She reminded him to call her Marie, dude. There are so many possibilites for sex in that!!!
Loved Wolverine and Scott -- "We've got to move on." I thought of all you slashers out there and what a way to give the kids a bone. Dude, I could right fic based on that moment!!
How sad that Cyclops only made it ten minutes into the movie. I remarked weeks ago, about Cyclops' noticable absence from the trailer. My baby brother who saw the movie a week before I did, told me on Saturday that he had been dying to fill me in on exactly why Scott wasn't in the trailers. Same for Mystique. Dude.
I REALLY wish Colossus had more of a part. So disappointing. His only purpose for being in that movie was to throw Wolverine. Weak dude, weak. Couldn't they have started up a little something between him and Rogue. Gods!!!
Loved the Danger Room and SENTINELS!!
I am still totally floored that they killed off Prof.X, despite the bonus ending. WTF?! After that I knew Jean was going to die. There was nothing else to do with her. AND OMG, the Pheonix was scary. If rage had a face, hers would be it.
Didn't like that they changed Leech up so much.
LOVED Beast!! He looked great and Kelsey Grammer was perfect. The fight scene was beautiful with the roaring and the jumping.
Juggernaut looked awesome as well, although that helmet looked a tad ridiculous. Anywho ...
Storm actually having a part in the movie was lovely ...
Magneto, sitting lonely and unloved at that chess board was great. He looked like some old man whose relations stuck him in a home and proceeded to forget him. Totally impotent and lost. That's what you get for dissing Mystique, homeboy. Of course, the state of things won't remain that way and I, personally, never thought it would.
Kudos to the guy in the front row who warned everybody not to leave. I was suspicious enough to hang out until after the credits rolled. HA!!! I forgot about that little moment in the beginning. So, funny and still kind of stupid because who else is going to play Professor Xavier besides Patrick Stewart. Are you kidding me? Whatever.
TPTB are obviously setting things up for another movie which I think is absolutely the wrong thing to do. This was the PERFECT way to end a franchise. Blow up a lot of shit and kill a bunch of people off. Dude, look how well it worked for Angel.

Date: 2006-06-06 02:50 pm (UTC)From:As for the movie, not being a comic geek made the movie a little harder to follow, but I went with a couple who filled me in on names and backstory, and what happened in the comics. They were a little horrified by what was done with the Phoenix, but it worked in the context of the story.
I loved her make-up, by the way. During the scene with Prof X in her old house ... ooo, that gave me chills.
How've you been? I've been offline for quite a while now ... I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

Date: 2006-06-06 10:28 pm (UTC)From:I wrote Firefly a while back and I think I might want to go there again, we'll see.
In the meantime, my response about the movie turned into another post. It kinda got away from me.
...
I know.
