seraphcelene: (books)
How can someone possibly make kinky fuckery boring? The finale of the 50 Shades trilogy manages to be boring, repetitive, and gratuitous. With the exception of the sex (and even that gets tiresome), everything of interest in this book happens off-screen. All of the real, potential conflict also happens off-screen. Not the best way to maintain narrative tension. The problem with the series, and with this book, is that it's a whole lotta nothing goin' on. The issues presented in book one are the same issues that we're dealing with in book three. Although, I appreciate that Christian has some serious hang-ups, it really didn't need a trilogy to illustrate and resolve. It REALLY didn't take a 500+ page finale with a Twilight-esque eleventh hour villian o'doom and unnecessarily extended epilogue. A whole lot of sound and fury.
