In other news, what is up with all the blade grabbing in Pairs skating?! When did this happen? I remember that I liked Pairs Skating. But this feels more like Men's or Ladies which, by the time I stopped watching, was all about elements and jumping and had lost alot of its heart. It's sad, really.

Also? Wtf, Dick Button. You are really kinda full of it, aren't you?

Oh, Celebrity Fit Club ...

... how I love you. You are such a train wreck.

The personalities on the show always make towards the wacky, but what I find most interesting is the intersection between people who are participating in order to get help loosing weight (for free) and people who do it for the 15 minutes o' fame (people, like, say, Dustin Diamond). This season's "cast" consists of some very familiar faces (OMG! Sebastian Bach, what happened to your hotness?) and a few not so much (Tenisha, who?). The surprise for me has been the Kevin Federline/Shar Jackson face-off. It's actually not so much a face-off. The infamous K-Fed is surprisingly genuine. He's there to loose weight. I never really paid all that much attention to the whole fiasco, but I will admit that I made judgments. He split with Shar while she was pregnant to marry Britney Spears. I can't say, of course, what was going on in their relationship, I wasn't in it and I wasn't watching. He was talked *about*, but I never bothered to watch him being talked to. I'd like to think that from what I've seen on CFC, that he's grown up. Gotten a clue, maybe several clues.

Fic: as soon as forever is through (Boys Over Flowers, G, Jun Pyo/Jan Di)

So this fic was difficult and very odd to write. I watched Boys Over Flowers in Korean with English sub-titles. Trying to write this fic was severely complicated by this fact. The problem, outside of my unfamiliarity with Korea, resides in the way that I write. I hear rhythms and patterns and then I write them down. As I watched BOF I heard one pattern spoken by the actors in Korean, but then I read a second pattern in the sub-titles. I'm a speed reader and I've been watching sub-titled foreign films for a long time, so reading sub-titles in my head is almost like hearing the actors speak in English. Everything works simultaneously so that unless the translation is bad or the timing is off, I don't really notice that I'm watching subbed material.

All that said, I ended up trying to write in conflicting patterns. I'm not sure that it works. This is a little melodramatic and a little awkward, but I'm mostly satisfied with it. I'm working on one more Boys Over Flower fic and then, I dare say, I will be retiring the pen in this area. I'm way too embarrassed and still concerned that I didn't do justice to the source or the culture from whence it derives.

I will let you be the judge.
