Oh, those boring award shows
Sep. 21st, 2008 11:08 pmI don't usually watch the Emmy's. Like the Miss America Pageant, I got over the whole hoopla surrounding most award shows a long time ago. The only real holdover is The Oscars and occasionally The Golden Globes. Generally, as a fan of genre TV, the Emmy's don't have much to offer me. Half of what is nominated I've never seen and the other half I've never heard of. This year, however, there was the shiny, sparkling allure of Mad Men. ( Read more... )
Oh, and is it bad for me to laugh at how badly the Patriots got SPANKED by the Dolphins (of ALL Teams)?! That's not bad, right? I mean seriously? 38-13 guys? As much as I dislike the Patriots (have ALWAYS disliked the Patriots) that's a really poor showing. Granted their Messiah QB is out for the season (Phil Sims must be in anguish) but I would have thought they could keep it together a little better than that. I didn't see the game, it wasn't shown in my area, so I don't know what the issue was but this is definitely not your mama's Patriots. Not playing like that. Now, Matt Cassel is no Tom Brady, we know, and (offensively) he was up against a seasoned QB in Chad Pennington, but what gets me is the Patriots Defense not showing up for the game. They're usually much, much better than what that score would suggest. Of course, there's always a giant killer. We see games like this every season, where a do nothing team dashes the hopes of a more talented franchise. Coming off an undefeated regular season stretch it was an especially painful fall for the Patriots. That it was at the Patriot's home makes it ten times worse. Nobody likes to get spanked in their own house.
And yes ... I'm still laughing.
