Heya babe.

I have links at home to several archiving tools, so I'll post again when I get there and can hunt them up.

A bunch of us created GreatestJournal (http://www.greatestjournal.com/) accounts last year when LJ was blacked out for a couple days (IIRC it was a weekend so you'd never have noticed, ha ha! In fact I barely noticed, but everyone was mentioning GJ so I got one to be on the safe side). It's just a backup.

Now there's also InsaneJournal (http://www.insanejournal.com/) and I've set up an account there too (but haven't posted or prettied it yet). Per some of my friends it's easier to use/friendlier interface than GJ ... but I think more folks we know are at GJ.

I am thinking of these mainly as backup. The fact that LJ/6A realized their gaffe and are apparently unsuspending something like half of the affected journals is very good news. If they had NOT taken this step it's true that much of fandom may have migrated altogether. As it is, I think most people are looking to have backup areas where fandom can keep in touch with communities/f'lists set up similarly to LJ ... in case we ever need them.

I haven't archived my LJ. I sure wouldn't want to lose anything I've got in my Memories ... but I don't think any of the archiving tools save that, so all those posts would have to be looked up & saved individually.

Anyway I'll post more when I get home!
