tkp gave me the prompt "Battle Ballerina" and somehow I ended up here. It was an odd, winding journey, I am sure.
Yash ... a ... maru ... dono," she whispers. Her severed arms reach for what he cannot see.
Saemon nods and her eyes light, lips curve up into a smile just as she tips over the cliff's edge. Briefly, he thinks of blind Gennosuke and Oboro's beautiful, mystic eyes.
Two ... three ... then a swarm of glowing butterflies drift toward heaven after she falls, a shower of particles that parted on impact. With Nenki's stinking hair cascading around his shoulders, Saemon cries for Hotarubi and wonders, too late, what she hated him for most, Yashamaru's murder or for wearing his face.
Yashamaru and Hotarubi, just so you know.

I'm still feeling the effort of the writing process and it's killing me. Usually I can get through the first draft, or at least half of the first draft, before I feel like writing is work but lately it's work from start to finish. I still don't like anything, it's all too deliberate.
I think that the problem is that I'm not reading enough. Reading other things, just for the fun of it always helps me to relax and the muscles ease and things just work. I guess because there's so many things buzzing in my head that it's easier to spill it out onto the paper.
*sigh*
