Disaster Averted

ETA: Guys! We've found a place for my brother through Sunday. Hopefully, things will work out after that, but until then he has three days to make them happen. Thanks for the suggestions and the good wishes and thoughts. If anyone has any other suggestions/informations, etc. Let me know. Everything counts!

Thanks!

/ETA

Hey guys! This is a weird request and I know that I don't know any of you in real life, but my brother is currently stranded in Washington D.C. without housing. He had a bunch of potential places to stay, mostly with friends of the family, and they all pulled out or fell through at the last minute.

He has been accepted into the post-bac program at Howard University and will be applying to the Dental School. If anyone knows anyone with a room that he can have, either free or for a small fee, or if anyone knows of someone who will let him sleep on their couch for a few days PLEASE let me know. He at least needs the opportunity to figure something out.

I know that this is a weird request, especially coming from someone that none of you have never met in real life, but I'm trying all avenues because the situation is pretty desperate.

My brother is clean, neat, quiet, a very hard worker, focused. He is an exemplary student, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't really party at all! He is really, really, really focused on becoming a dentist. I am afraid that this experience has been very disheartening for him. The University Undergrad housing department that he has to deal with has been very unhelpful and is disorganized.

Thanks guys,

I really appreciate any help and suggestions!!

Try hostels in the area? Hosteling International places are usually pretty safe and reliable, and if he's willing to take a dorm bed, not too expensive. They'll have lockers he can keep his bags in, shared kitchen and bathrooms, etc.

Hosteling International DC site (http://www.hiwashingtondc.org/)

Another hostel site (http://www.dchostel.com/index.html)

Hope that helps! The only other thing I can think of is looking on Craigslist for short-term rentals, but that would probably be more expensive.

Oh no! I'm sorry, I don't have any help! I would totally give your brother a futon if I was in the area. I hope he finds somewhere to crash.

That's awful. I wish I could help but I'm in Jersey. And shame on the school for being so useless.

I forwarded this to an acquaintance who works at Howard, but she didn't have any ideas.

I AM SO GLAD THAT IT'S STARTING TO WORK OUT, you have no idea.
