Fic: Authors revealed for [livejournal.com profile] spacesanta

[livejournal.com profile] deepredbelle wrote Orbit a gorgeous Mal/River fic for me for [livejournal.com profile] spacesanta '05. It's beautiful and painful and perfect.

Now that the authors have been revealed. I wrote:

Love Song
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Kaylee/Mal with a side of River

[livejournal.com profile] itsaslashything had the misfourtune to get me for both this ficathon and also the [livejournal.com profile] serenity_santa. I don't think that I've ever so completely failed at a ficathon as I have on these two. Although eyes like the summer was rather well received, and it's the best thing I've written in a good while, my recipient hasn't commented at all period on either fic.

So, to [livejournal.com profile] itsaslashything, I extend my deepest apologies and regrets for failing to present you with an appropriate yueltide gift.

For those of you who did enjoy the fic, thank you.

(Sorry to hijack your LJ, but I stumbled upon this post and I had read your story, but hadn't commented, and I wanted to be sure you saw it, so...)

I love this, and that's being very anti-Jayne/Kaylee, and not really into Mal/Kaylee either. But intertwining Kaylee and River is so right in so many ways, and I love the intimacy of their connection throughout this -- and using Mal as a bridge to things unspoken...yes. And this could just be the hardcore Simon/River 'shipper in me talking but the first portion of this leaves me wanting so much more between the two of them. You nailed every nuance of their relationship in this scene. Don't know if you've written any Simon/River but I'd read it in a heartbeat if you're ever inclined.

I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed your Kaylee, too. Very few people can pull her off, I think, and that includes the dude who wrote the novelization for Serenity, and he had the friggin' blueprint. Your Kaylee was not at all cloying, but genuinely earthy and sweet -- just the way she should be. Which is probably why I bought Mal and Kaylee together in your story, come to think of it.

Please wiggle. I would be all about the wiggling. ;) I mean, the tenderness, the angst, the longing...that beginning almost makes me forget it's not a Simon/River. And with those turns of phrase...sigh. I would fangirl thee all over the place.
