I really loved this line. I think it captures the story's theme beautifully. So much has changed for these characters and certainly, at this point anyway, not much has been positive. This story also sets up, beautifully, Buffy's fascination with Spike.
"I don't need you to be gentle," she whispers, her voice lost beneath the ripping of his shirt. "I don't want to be saved." She wants the catharsis of violence. She wants to love him until he bleeds with it and she wants to bleed in return.
My heart just breaks for them - they'll never be in the same place at the same time again.
