I didn't vote in the primaries/caucuses (I wasn't registered in WA), but if I had, I would've considered gender in my vote. Hillary got points from me because she was a woman. I don't think that that's right, exactly. I wouldn't want to get into a position I otherwise wouldn't have just because I'm a woman. But in this instance I feel like if a precedence is set, things will be more equal in the future. That said, I wouldn't have voted for Hillary. I prefer Obama's stances. So gender wouldn't have decided my vote, but yes, it would have been a consideration in casting my vote. The same is true for me with race. I wonder sometimes then whether I can actually say race or gender shouldn't be issues, only issues should be issues. Objectively I believe that, but I guess I don't feel that I can cling to that ideal in this imperfect world. I probably wouldn't be voting for McCain even if both candidates were white, but it's something for me to think about.
