I thought so too, but then when I thought about it more, I kind of liked her naivete. I mean, she's this incredibly strong, powerful person, and yet so easily manipulated because she makes the mistake of trusting people. I *love* it when faith is a fatal flaw.
Come back with your shield or on it."
Lots of other people seemed to like that line as well.
OMG!! That is so twisted and gross and worthy of a story! How did Buffy hook up with *him*! Does he look different?! How did he manage that?!
I'm writing a WIP (I know you don't read them, so it's ok if I spoil you ;o) in which I had always planned on making the Immortal deformed. Not quite as deformed as hunchback dude, but yeah, kinda grotesque. The issue was that every Immortal I read in every fic felt the same: all . . . James Bondy, suave and debonair and gorgeous and kinda boring, actually. So I thought, well, make him the opposite. Then of course you wonder why Buffy or Darla or Dru or any of those cats talk about him as a lady-killer--well, it's precisely because he is malformed, grotesque, etc. It's a maiden/Death type thing, Phantom of the Opera-y type thing. But also the fact that women feel *sorry* for him, they feel that he is sensitive and emotionally damaged because of his face and stuff, they want to *fix* him, they all have complexes and he *uses* them. Anyway, that's my!Immortal.
